My paintings may appear to be simple landscapes at first glance, but look closer. Immerse yourself in these kaleidoscopes of light, color, and texture. What might you experience in such magical places? You are sure to find those universal qualities we all yearn for — beauty, freedom, tranquility, refreshment. Perhaps you will find the hidden treasure of your own spirit.

 

It's easy to imagine that my paintings are idealized scenes, but I paint the reality of nature in all its many moods. I work en plein air (outdoors), typically near my home-studio in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky. I paint what I see but I see with my heart, and my heart looks for the sublime in the most ordinary of subjects.

 

My paintings are always an emotional response to nature, to the emotion I see within nature and within myself. Many of my paintings have a tranquil quality that I hope brings peace and serenity to those who see them, yet others convey attitudes of chaos, joy, love, grief, or yearning. My hope is that these visual metaphors appeal to your senses and touch your heart as well.
